Accessibility

The short version
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard behind Ontario’s AODA.
We’re upfront about what isn’t finished yet.
Every visit comes to you, and we’ll plan around your needs.
Prefer email, phone or a support person? You can skip the website entirely.
Tell us what isn’t working. We reply within 3 business days.
Refuel IV brings IV therapy to your couch, so an easy, comfortable experience matters to us long before your nurse arrives. That includes this website, whether you’re on a phone, using a keyboard, listening with a screen reader or zoomed in.
We want everyone to be able to learn about Refuel IV, ask us questions and book a visit, including people with visual, hearing, motor, cognitive and other disabilities. Accessibility is part of how we design and build, not something added at the end.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
As a small business, we aren’t required by the AODA to meet the web standard, but we follow it anyway. We also follow the AODA Customer Service Standard, which applies to every business in Ontario that serves the public.
Clear structure: headings and sections follow a logical order, so screen readers can move through each page in sequence.
Readable type: body text is set in Newsreader at 15 to 19 pixels with generous line spacing, with Fraunces for headings.
Strong contrast for reading: navy and slate text on our warm-white background, and navy text on our amber buttons.
Alternative text on photos, so screen readers can describe them. Decorative icons are skipped.
Reduced motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, our animations are reduced too.
Labelled form fields on our waitlist, group inquiry and FAQ question forms.
Layouts that adapt from phones to large screens, and pages that keep working when you zoom in.
We’d rather be upfront about what isn’t finished yet:
Some small labels, like the step numbers on our homepage, use our amber accent colour, which has lower contrast on light backgrounds. We’re reviewing these.
Our open-and-close answer sections and mobile menu are still being tested with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers. If one doesn’t work for you, contact us and we’ll send you the information directly.
The question box on our Learn page uses placeholder text instead of a visible label.
Some photos are still placeholders while we finish our photography.
If you find something that belongs on this list, please tell us and we’ll add it.
If any part of this website doesn’t work for you, you can skip it entirely:
Email us your question, preferred date and location, and we’ll take it from there.
Call us and speak with one of the founders.
Ask a support person, like a family member or caregiver, to contact us for you, with your permission.
Ask for any information on this site, including our Privacy Policy and Terms, in another format, like large print or read aloud, at no cost.
Because we come to you, your visit happens in a space you already know. Our Registered Nurses can adapt the setup for mobility, sensory or anxiety needs. Tell us before your appointment if you need anything, for example:
Extra time for your intake form, screening or consultation.
A support person with you during your visit, at no extra charge.
Your service animal with you. Service animals are always welcome.
Information read aloud, or written down instead of spoken.
Help joining the video consultation with your Nurse Practitioner.
If something people rely on to reach us is temporarily unavailable, like our phone line or online forms, we’ll post a notice on this website with the reason, how long we expect it to last, and other ways to contact us.
Everyone who works with clients is trained in accessible customer service under the AODA, including how to communicate with people with different disabilities and how to work with assistive devices, service animals and support persons.
Feedback
If something on this website gets in your way, email us with the subject line “Accessibility feedback” and, if you can, include:
The page you were on, or its link.
What you were trying to do.
What happened, or didn’t.
The device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if you’re comfortable sharing.
We aim to reply within 3 business days and to fix clear issues within 30 days. Either way, we’ll tell you our timeline. Feedback is welcome in any form: written, by phone, or through someone contacting us on your behalf.
